At Chinn & Associates, PC, we know that the dedication of our team is what allows us to provide exceptional legal services. Equally important is creating an environment where effort and excellence are genuinely acknowledged.
One of our long-standing paralegals, Wendy, recently shared a personal reflection that illustrates this perfectly. After decades in the profession and a seven-year break, she returned to her career and discovered a workplace where her contributions are truly valued.
A Journey of Dedication
“I’ve been a paralegal since 1994.
That’s a long time to do anything.
I stepped away for seven years and honestly thought that part of my life was behind me.
When I came back to work full-time, I wasn’t chasing fulfillment. I wasn’t looking for recognition. I wasn’t trying to prove anything.
I’ve felt fulfilled in many areas of my life. As a wife. As a mom. As a grandmother. In building businesses and creating something of my own.
But in my career? It always felt like something I did well, not something that truly filled me up.
This time is different.
My boss regularly tells me how impressed he is with the way I handle things. He notices how much I get done. He sees the dedication. Even the after-hours effort when most people would shut it down.
Earlier this week, he gave me a spontaneous raise and bonus.
Yes, the raise was generous.
But what stayed with me wasn’t the money.
It was realizing that for the first time in my professional life, I feel genuinely valued.
Not because I suddenly changed.
But because I’m in an environment where effort is acknowledged and excellence is appreciated instead of assumed.
I spent a lot of years believing excellence was expected, not acknowledged.
Turns out, where you do it matters just as much as what you do.
And that realization? That’s the part that feels different.”
Why Recognition Matters
Wendy’s reflection reinforces an important truth: excellence is only as meaningful as the environment in which it is recognized. At Chinn & Associates, PC, we are committed to fostering a culture where each team member’s dedication is valued.
