A distinguished Mississippi lawyer and mediator has offered her support for Mark Chinn’s 2025 Lifetime Achievement Award nomination. She has worked against and with Mark in litigation since she first became a member of the Mississippi Bar in 1991. In more recent years, she has served as a mediator in several complex legal matters Mark has handled. She has also served on various committees and in legal organizations with Mark.
Without fail, Mark is always prepared, courteous, honest, and level-headed. At the national and state levels, Mark represents Mississippi beautifully. He exemplifies the qualities one looks for in a member of our Bar.
He also goes above and beyond exemplary client representation. He furthers the interest of the Bar. He has been a leader in seeking judicial and legislative reform as it pertains to Mississippi families, women, and children.
Mark was early in adopting and promoting alternative dispute resolution in domestic relations. Those efforts continue to this day and most recently in his stellar leadership in our State’s adoption of Collaborative Law Rules for Mississippi. Likewise, he saw a desire for alternative fee arrangements and, to her knowledge, was the first family law practitioner to offer them.
Mark has also been at the forefront of promoting wellness for his colleagues and clients. He is never shy to discuss physical and mental health and good practices. Mark has helped numerous lawyers in the daunting task of opening their own law firms. He has mentored many young lawyers who have become leaders of the Bar in their own right.
He regularly attends both national and state bar functions, including, but not limited to, the annual Bar convention in Mississippi. He is often a speaker and uses those platforms to promote justice, compassion, integrity, and a higher practice of law.
She welcomed the opportunity to elaborate further or answer any questions the committee may have and thanked them for their consideration of this well-deserved nomination.
