We’re pleased to share that our founding attorney, Mark Chinn, recently presented to the Leadership Mississippi Bar program, speaking on the topic of Personal Branding and Marketing for Lawyers.
The Leadership Mississippi Bar program is a highly selective, year-long initiative sponsored by The Mississippi Bar. Each year, a small group of attorneys—generally those with three to twelve years of experience—is chosen to participate in leadership training designed to prepare young lawyers for service within the legal profession, their communities, and the state.
Chinn was honored to speak with this year’s class and share insights drawn from decades of experience practicing law, writing, and mentoring attorneys.
Insights on Personal Branding & Professional Growth
During the session, Chinn shared practical perspectives on how attorneys can intentionally shape their professional reputations and develop meaningful careers in the legal profession.
While tools and platforms continue to evolve, he emphasized that effective marketing for lawyers begins with gaining clarity on the kind of practice an attorney wants to build and the values that define their work. Marketing, he noted, is most effective when it reflects a clear professional mission and commitment to excellence.
The presentation touched on several areas relevant to lawyers developing their practices, including:
- Building a clear professional identity and personal brand
- Differentiating a law practice in a competitive legal market
- Developing strong referral relationships and professional networks
- Communicating expertise through writing, speaking, and thought leadership
- Understanding how evolving technology and AI are shaping legal marketing
These topics offered ideas for building a practice that is not only successful but personally fulfilling; a goal near and dear to Mark’s heart, as it’s one that’s driven his own practice throughout the years.
