A Divorce Mistake You CAN’T Make

One thing that is almost impossible for a divorce lawyer to fix is an item of personal property that “disappears.” If a person thinks their marriage is in trouble; if there is a lot of fighting; if there is talk or threats of divorce, precious and irreplaceable items should be secured.

For example, expensive rings or jewelry, family heirlooms, valuable guns, or important documents. These items should be removed from the home or deposit box and stored safely in a place to which the other spouse has no access. This does not mean the trunk of your car!
