AMERICAN AND CHRISTIAN IDEALS CALL FOR US TO SHOW TOLERANCE AND ACCOMMODATION TO ISLAM, NOT OBJECTION

I usually confine my comments to family law matters, but the anniversary of 9/11 and surrounding events compel me to comment in some public way. Our country is based upon propositions ordained by GOD. America was initially populated by people seeking freedom from religious persecution. The United States was formed on the bed rock of freedom of religion. As hard as it may be, citizens of the United States should stand firm in protecting the right of Muslims to practice their religion and to build a Mosque where ever they desire, within the framework of zoning laws. No justifications should be based upon specious distinctions between what is legal and what is appropriate. Burning the Koran runs contrary to all notions of religious tolerance. Those who oppose the Mosque, and those who want to burn the Koran, and those who don’t want prosecutions to take place in New York, are not only acting contrary to our core beliefs, they are playing into the hands of the persons they seek to denigrate. Let us celebrate the unique and free country we created by showing tolerance in the most difficult of circumstances.
